Congratulations to DAISY Award® Recipient Marieshela Cone, RN. Shela

Congratulations to Marieshela Cone, RN. Shela was recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. We are so happy to have Shela as part of the team at Drew Memorial Health System!

The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

The nomination submitted read, “She may be the littlest, most calmest person that I have ever met. Her personality is on-point and she always found a way to make me laugh. I’ll never forget her because of the goofy moments that we had. Shela made me feel like I could do anything even when I was in pain. I promise you she will never let your baby get off of the monitor, even if she fixes it and has to turn around 30 seconds later and fix it again. She is going to make sure everything is steady!”

We are proud to partner with the DAISY Foundation and honor our nurses with The DAISY® Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Honorees are nominated by patients or peers who show gratitude for the compassionate care nurses provide each and every day.
