Advanced
Technology
Utilizing
the latest in technology, we provide timely and accurate test results
to assist the physician in making a proper diagnosis.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)...
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is the most significant advance in medicine
since the discovery of the x-ray. With this highly advanced technology,
physicians are able to see inside the body in ways never before possible.
The images captured through MRI are nearly as sharp as if the physician
were to use surgery to look directly at the anatomy being imaged. Images
produced by the MRI system are of such amazing clarity and detail that
physicians are able to pinpoint brain lesions, identify problems of the
spinal column, the heart, abdomen and other organs and tissue masses.
This procedure uses no ionizing radiation and is harmless as well as pain-free.
COMPUTERIZED
AXIAL TOMOGRAPHY SCANNER (CAT Scan)...
This highly sensitive instrument is able to detect some conditions that
conventional x-rays cannot. CT exams produce an inside look at the organs
and often replace other diagnostic techniques such as exploratory surgery
. CT offers greater accuracy with minimum discomfort.
ULTRASOUND...
Ultrasound technology converts high frequency sound waves into images
of the body's internal structure. This harmless procedure is frequently
used in evaluating pregnancies. Because there is no radiation exposure,
mother and child are perfectly safe.
TELERADIOLOGY...
Teleradiology is a recent technological advance that allows diagnostic
images to be transmitted over standard telephone lines to a receiving
computer 24 hours a day. Radiology specialists are then able to interpret
the images and communicate their findings to the treating physicians quickly.
MAMMOGRAPHY...
Mammography can detect tumors as small as a grain of sand even before
they can be detected through self examination. Drew Memorial's mammography
unit is staffed with certified female technologists.
ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY....
Echocardiography is an ultrasound diagnostic technique that produces images
of the heart in motion. This technique is used to diagnose heart valve
defects and many other problems of the heart.
DOPPLER VASCULAR
STUDIES...
This high tech procedure utilizes ultrasound technology to produce visual
images of a patients blood flow which are evaluated by a radiologist to
detect blood clots or even the plaques that can lead to strokes.
BONE DENSITY...
Prodigy Visions improved technology and precision detects subtle bone changes in a variety of clinical conditions. Using direct digital detector technology, it delivers rapid scans, near radiographic imaging, and dose efficiency three to five times better than traditional systems. And its comprehensive capabilities include Advanced Hip Assessment and dual vertebral Assessment powerful new tools for fracture risk assessment.
